Found Preston's death date at the Kansas State Library on film
It said he died at the Old Veterans Home in Leavenworth Kansas
We went to the Leavenworth cemetery and they looked in their records
and said he was not buried there. We then went to the local
historcial society and they said the mortician's books were closed
to the public. From what I understand it was or is a family business
passed down the years. the genealogy books at the society were out for
repair at the time we were there.
Next we were in Warrensburg at the sextons's office
where Preston's wife Elizabeth is buried. Preston has his birth date
on the stone but no death date. The sexton's office looked it up
in the old books and said Preston's body was never brought back to
buried in Warrensburg.
In looking in Kansas and Missouri I think that Preston probably
was cremated and put where ever in Kansas since his family did
not come to get him. Preston's wife had already passed away years
before and the kids were fairly young at the time. I would love to
see the morticians books from back then.
If anyone can visit the local genealogy society in
Leavenworth there are books that might tell this
story. These books were out at the time I was there.
